Spirit Jerseys have become very popular amongst the Disney community and it seems as though Disney keeps churning them out. With new styles and colors, it’s hard to choose between which to get. Spirit Jersey’s aren’t cheap either, one will cost you anywhere from $64.99 – $69.99 for adult sizes and $39.99 for youth sizes. If you are petite, you might have spent some time wondering if it’s worth getting a youth XL jersey instead of an adult XS. I’ve got both sizes and these are three reasons why getting an adult size is better than buying a youth-sized jersey.
Inconsistent Sizing
Not all of the youth XL-sized jerseys are made equal. Some of the XL’s I have seen are larger than others. In the picture above, the Mickey and Friends Spirit Jersey is longer in length and the sleeves. The Child Spirit Jersey is slightly narrower as well.
Cuffed and Uncuffed Sleeves
The un-cuffed sleeves are the main thing that I dislike about the youth jersey. For reference, I am 5’1″ and 105 pounds. The sleeves on the youth-sized jersey are a tad long on me and they dangle. It’s not fitted, so when you are eating food, they get in the way. The cuffed sleeves are better because they stay around your wrists.
It Won’t Be An Oversized Fit
Spirit Jerseys are meant to have an oversized look. If you purchase a youth XL, it looks more like long sleeve top.
The adult XS Mandalorian jersey pictured here looks more oversized on me. Also note that the bottom of the adult’s XS jersey is tapered, whereas the youth XL is cut straight at the bottom.
Which is Better?
It all depends on your personal preference! Personally, I like the adult XS size because it is roomier and more comfortable. I find that the cuffed sleeves a better design because they don’t get as dirty and they stay put to your wrists.
My Last Tip/Reminder
Make sure you double-check the youth XL sizes because each jersey is made different. This can be a little tricky if you order online and can’t see the jersey in person. The Mickey and Friends Classic jersey is the largest one that I have seen. “The Child” jersey is small. My “Little Boo” jersey is a bit smaller than the Mickey jersey but bigger than “The Child”. I also noticed that the Minnie summer tye-dye youth jersey was bigger than “The Child”.
If you have purchased both, let me know which you prefer and why! I hope this post will help you make an informed decision! As always, stay Disney fashionable!
