Have you gone to Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland? Did you know they have a cute 1st Edition Porg Mug that you can only get in there? This is the first time that you can actually drink inside Disneyland! You will have to abide by certain rules when visiting. You have to drink inside the Cantina, you have 45 minutes to be in the cantina, you cannot pick where you want to be seated (standing tabletop or seated booth), and the limit is two drinks per person.

Cheers from Us

Make Reservations Before Going

You should always plan your visit when going to Disneyland to maximize your time. If you would like to visit Oga’s Cantina, this is especially true. Even with a reservation, you might end up waiting in a line. You can make reservations through the Disneyland App under “My Plans” -> “Reserve Dining” area. You can pick any available time that works for you! In the event you can’t make it, be sure that you cancel within 24 hours in order to avoid a $10 cancellation fee.

We waited in a short line and were guided to the standing bar. Being first-time visitors to the Cantina, the bartender told us that the Fuzzy Tauntaun was the most popular drink as it leaves a tingling sensation on your tongue. We ordered the Fuzzy Tauntaun, a Jedi Mind Trick, The Outer Rim, and a Cliff Dweller (non-alcoholic).

Order the Cliff Dweller to Get the Porg Mug

The Cliff Dweller: Citrus Juices, Coconut, Hibiscus-Grenadine, and Seagram’s Ginger Ale.

When you order the Cliff Dweller, it comes in the fantastic souvenir 1st edition PORG MUG! When you are ready to leave, the Cast Member will swap your Porg mug with a brand new one to take home. Now you have become a proud owner of a Porg! Note that the Porg mug is only available for purchase at the Cantina.

Standing at the Bar, getting our Porg filled

If you don’t know what a Porg is, check out this YOUTUBE video. Porg’s are a cute, little, flat-faced, alien bird-like species that dwell in Luke Skywalker’s secluded island. And, Chewie loves to eat them! The Porg’s have their own cult following and have become a fan-favorite!

Off-topic, if you spot Chewbacca wandering around Galaxy’s Edge, you should try to offer him a Porg stuffy for a snack to see how he reacts!

Are the Drinks Good?

The drinks got us buzzed and sleepy. The drinks are on the sugary side. The fuzzy tauntaun tingle is an experience you should try. Wookiepedia describes the Fuzzy Tauntaun as, “a drink served at Oga’s Cantina that was made using a narcotic substance called buzzz which had a numbing effect. It was also garnished with gold flakes. The drink was named after the Tauntauns of Hoth.”

Fuzzy Tauntaun Tingly Drink

My favorite drink was the Outer Rim.

The Outer Rim was my favorite!

The Outer Rim: Patrón Silver Tequila, Cedilla Açaí Liqueur, Lime Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar topped with Black Salt and Exotic Fruit Purée

This drink was good for me because it wasn’t as sweet. Tequila is my preference for alcohol if I am going to drink hard liquor. The black salt added a nice touch, not just in taste but also for the looks! This was drink number two that got my buzz going.

WHAT NOT TO ORDER AT OGA’S CANTINA

AAAHH! You can order Batuu Bits for $8. They are “a light crisp Snack Mix from the galaxy.”

Batuu Bits is a no-no for Us

Pictured above is what $8 Batuu Bits look like. For $8 it is not our cup of tea, as you can scour the parks and get much more bang for your buck when it comes to snacks. I only really enjoyed the big, thing, flaky cracker. If you know what it is, comment below!

Fun Facts About Oga’s Cantina

  • The concept was introduced in 2017 during D23 and opened in 2019
  • It is the local cantina at the Black Spire Outpost, “where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders, and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music and conduct meetings—no questions asked.”
  • The Cantina has its very own DJ! DJ R3X (RX-24), a former StarSpeeder pilot droid. He’ll spin some robotic tunes while you sip away and quench your thirst.
  • It’s the first time the general public can drink inside Disneyland, before this, that privilege was only reserved to Club 33 guests.
  • Walt Disney himself placed the ban on drinking alcohol at the parks. He told the Saturday Evening Post in 1956: “No liquor, no beer, nothing. Because that brings in a rowdy element. That brings people that we don’t want and I feel they don’t need it. I feel when I go down to the park I don’t need a drink. I work around that place all day and I don’t have one.”
