Wow, can you believe that it’s been nearly 3 months since the government-mandated shutdown? Now Disney has announced a phased reopening beginning on July 9th with Downtown Disney. July 17th is marked as opening for Disneyland & July 23 for Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Paradise Pier Hotel. I’ve sure missed Disney, but what are your thoughts of the new protocols?
We just became annual passholders the beginning of this year, and I feel we just got our feet in the water! How I have missed Disneyland these past few months – it really became a way for me to unwind, hang out with friends, and have a happy time.
What are your thoughts about this? Let’s look at the bullet points of the new procedures in place when coming back to Disney. Here is a summary of what they have on their website.
- Mandatory Face Masks – Required upon entering and while at the resort
- Physical Distancing: Markers on the floor and cast members to be patrolling
- Temperature Checks: Everyone entering Downtown Disney or Disneyland will have to get their temp checked
- Limited-Contact Enhancements: Cashless transactions, probably no character greetings, no parades, no theater shows
- Enhanced Cleaning and Sanitation: More hand sanitizing stations, cleaning heightened.
So, let’s see… a mask at all times, boy that will be hot in the summer time. Physical distancing, do you think people will actually adhere to these guidelines, or will they forget? No character greetings, while rather sad, I understand. What do you guys think about this? I’m curious to know, so comment below.
Now let’s talk reservations, which will be very stressful. Shanghai Disney booked up within three minutes! I am glad that I didn’t get one of those higher priced passes, since all that will be going out the window. The idea of having to fight for a reservation stresses me out. It’s like Rise of the Resistance all over again. Looks like park capacity will be severely limited, no new annual passport sales and no new ticket sales. I can only imagine what it will be like trying to get on the app and try for a reservation.
If their opening is anything like WDW, then they will most likely have us accept a release of liability in the event that you get COVID from Disney.
How do you guys feel about this? Are you going to be going back as soon as they open? I really want to, but also thinking about how people from all over the world or country visit Disneyland, which means, the risk for spread or contracting the virus would increase when going. Do you think people will adhere to guidelines? What are your biggest concerns and fears for going back? Do you think Disney will continue to charge annual passholders once the park opens, even if a reservation might be difficult to obtain? I’d love to know your thoughts! Leave a comment!
