Have you ever thought of going to Disneyland by yourself? Did you wonder if you would have fun? If you are second-guessing yourself, DON’T! Just do it! I guarantee you will have a blast. I had been contemplating going alone for a while. I went on my first solo trip before the parks closed, and here are the best things about going to Disneyland by yourself.
You Can Do Whatever You Want
Going with a group of people to Disneyland is always fun. You get to spend quality time with each other, have thrills together, share food and wait in line together. With a group, things that everyone wants to do varies, so there might be some lost time waiting around for someone to do something that you would be fine skipping on. The #1 reason to go solo is that you don’t have to consult with anyone! You can literally do anything you want! You make the decisions. The park is your oyster and you can navigate it in any way as you choose, as fast as you want or as slow as you want. It sure makes weaving through the crowd much easier! If you’re like me, and you like to cram as much as you can in a day – challenge yourself to see how much I can get done in half a day.
Photographers Will Pose You For Cute Solo Pics
I love getting PhotoPass pictures done with Cast Members. Sometimes you get CM’s who are really into it and it’s sure to boost your Disney experience. Over by Fantasyland, I saw a photog there and thought, you know, let me get a photo to really maximize my FastPass usage. When he saw I was solo, he was really creative with ideas in helping me create a fun photo for a solo photo. I thought this was really clever. I also love magic photos – who doesn’t? The CM didn’t make me feel strange for being a solo traveler, in fact, I think he spent more time on my photos than usual. I was sure to leave him a positive email through Disney Guest Relations.
Single Rider Lines
We all know about the Single Rider line, sometimes even as a group, we will stand in line there to hopefully beat out the crowds. However, when it’s not on a packed day, you can get on and off in a matter of minutes! They will nuzzle you in with an odd party number and you’re off on your way. Sometimes you can even meet people from all over the world who are vacationing and have a pleasant quick conversation with them. As a local, I am always intrigued by people who travel from afar to visit Disneyland for their vacation. Sure makes me feel grateful to be so close to the parks – it’s like a second home now.
Do That One Thing You Never Get to Do
What is the one thing that you haven’t done in a while? What is that thing that you usually want to do that everyone else doesn’t? Whether that be going to Tom Sawyer’s island, getting a quick workout on the Davy Crockett canoes or even something as simple as camping out for a parade hours earlier – you can do it! Have you visited all the shops on Main Street?
Meet Other Solo-Ists!
There are many other people who travel to Disneyland Solo as well! Check out this Facebook Group: Solo Disneyland Adventure. The thought always ran through my brain of going on a solo trip — this group gave me the motivation. Everyone is really nice and supportive. Check the group out and if you are worried or have any questions or concerns – ask the group! This particular day, I met up with a couple of other solo-ists and we all rode Alice and Wonderland together! It was nice to meet other fellow Disney lovers and get to share our stories with each other.
My Solo adventure proved to be very fun and eventful. I got great seating and got to see the Magic Happens parade, rode on several rides, shared some laughs and screams with myself, and most of all came to the conclusion that I do love going solo. Now if I have the Disneyland bug and members of my group can’t go, I know, I will always have the option to go solo.
I’ll leave you with a video of the last Dapper Dan’s and Main Street Band mini-parade I saw. I got stuck in the castle while the parade was starting and ended up walking with Mickey and Friends through Main Street. Have you ever seen Goofy dance? He’s the BEST! Don’t forget to let me know how your solo trip went!
